Why Resistance Training is Important

Did you know that adults who do not perform resistance training may experience up to 1%-3% reduction in bone mineral density every year of life? Resistance training has been found to have many health benefits that have been proven to improve one’s overall physical function. As found by Wolff’s Law, “bone in a healthy animal will adapt to loads under which it is placed. If loading on a particular bone increases, the bone will remodel itself over time to become stronger to resist that sort of loading”.

It is believed that exercise interventions used to promote muscle gain, additionally are expected to increase bone mineral density and significant improvements can be made after 4-24 months of consistent resistance training.

Resistance training has additional proven benefits including reduced body fat, improved cardiovascular health, enhanced mental health, and reversed aging factors.
