Blood Flow Restriction (BFR)

Blood flow restriction is a technique used to strengthen a muscle with less load. During treatment, the physical therapist restricts blood flow to a limb, combined with low-load lifting to elicit metabolic stress. This results in increased strength and muscle growth. This treatment is most often used in physical therapy for post-operative patients who have weight bearing or lifting restrictions due to their protocol, in order to accelerate the post-operative strengthening process.

They’ve really been helping me with my left shoulder. It’s been over 10 years since my shoulder has had solid muscle in it and I’m starting to notice that it’s getting stronger after each visit. CACC is a great place to go for physical therapy
